Nantucket Sunshine Shopping

Nantucket had nothing but sunshine to offer last week.  Only one problem with that – when do you leave the beach to shop?

That is a hard call to make.  But the galleries,DSC_0130 book shops, hat shopsDSC_0105 and everything else you didn’t know you needed is on display on the cobblestone and brick streetsDSC_0078 of the downtown.  While we basked in the casual elegance of Nantucket, dear daughter was working in the Hampton’s.  Soul Cycle!  I am worried she will transfer affection for this island in the Atlantic for that spit of land known as the Hampton’s!   I’m sure the shopping is first class there too, but I would miss the sightsDSC_0127 and sounds of Nantucket.  Do they have a candy shop filled with homemade candies produced in the back of the store?  Candy chef on site?  Maybe they have as many dress shops. DSC_0126 DSC_0121 DSC_0120 But Nantucket has its share!  But back to ACK shopping.  If I could choose one item to take home with me, what would it be?  I would have purchased another Anne Packard painting.  Whenever I see one of her paintings, I walk right up to it as if there is not another painting in the gallery.

She always draws me into her world, simple, serene or stormy, I enter willingly.  No, her paintings are now out of my price range, but the windows are filled with affordable,  enticing productsDSC_0102from the bold and colorful to the simple and sophisticated. DSC_0103and despite the sun pouring through the trees, casting shadows as you walk and walk, DSC_0089 DSC_0104 DSC_0086 DSC_0079 DSC_0087 DSCN4783at some point, you have to head back to the house, and slip into beach wear (notice I did not say bathing suit!  My dearest high school friend came along for part of this trip and she still looks great in a suit – drats! but she works for it and it shows off well!)  Shopping is over, but the tour of Nantucket is not over yet, next up will be a garden tour!IMG_4148

Have a cup of tea and join me back on Weed Street later!

no disappointment here, except for the fact that you didn’t buy the Packard for your dear sister! I do love my Nantucket basket, thank you!
