Dahlias defy the summer fading

With a tear in our eye

we say good bye to the Summer of 2012.  Though Summer is not officially over, Labor Day signals the ending is near.  Still, in the garden, some plants will fulfill their role of havens of nectar, until the last bee is gone.

The dahlias defy the shorter days.
