2012! Saw, Read, Shared and More!

2012 looms; just hours away!  It has arrived for my new blogging friends in the U.K. and has sent me in haste to the computer to get one last post in before the New Year!  I have been ILL all week!! A visit to the Emergency Room with a vile and violent food poisoning  kept me in bed all week feeling as dreadful as I can ever remember.  I have never been so glad to be up walking about sipping water and nibbling dry crackers.

Looking back on the last year, I have decided not to dwell on disappointments or failures but rather on any achievements.  This blog has been satisfying, and I believe I achieved my aims set forth in January – to see more, read more and share more.  I have shared some thoughts and ideas on this blog.  I need to read even more and can see only what I let each day offer – this I’ve learned.  But to truly see, takes patience and mighty focus – need more of that.

A project that I had been working on for two years with a woman  (now, a dear friend) came to fruition and publication in September and that was an achievement.

The Spirit of Gardens

This book is the subject of over 100 gardeners in our area; each gardener speaks to what gardening means or has meant to her.  We photographed the gardens and guided our gardeners to speak intimately and personally.  A lot of work and so much more reward.  I would love to do more of this kind of work, which taxes and challenges my creativity and pushes me beyond the comfort zone.  A resolution for 2012 – keep that camera clicking! Focus, focus, imagine and click.

What I have enjoyed most about 2012 is the love of my family.  Strengthening bonds that have always been there but havent been tended in way too long.  Watching my children maneuver adulthood – very scary and never without worry, and always looking for the faith that they will find their way.  The world today seems fraught with so many hurdles. My husband who is loved without bounds (especially after playing “nurse” for a week) is a partner for life who has never let me down, and I am assured he feels the same about me.  Resolved to keep that as strong in 2012.

Happy New Year!
