Patricia Wells’ Salads!

Elm Street Books in New Canaan CT had a FABULOUS event tonight.  Patricia Wells came to talk about her new book  SALAD AS A MEAL.   The reception included a buffet of her Greek Salad (recipe in book) home-made bread, wine…do you get the picture?  I have heard her speak before and at the end of the evening everyone wants to sign up to attend her cooking classes in Paris or Provence.

Are you planning your garden to produce the vegetables and herbs you use with frequency, or the ones that are difficult to find or just planting with abandon?

Tonight’s event has made me think about which herbs and vegetables will afford me the MOST delicious and nutritious menus!

Bon appetit!

P.s.  The chicken curry for my menu tonight began with the blackening of bay leaves (bay plant grown on the windowsill until the weather is better, and then outside for the Summer.)

The brown one is one taken from a McCormick’s jar; good in a pinch, but just not the same as home-grown!

Fresh bay leaves!!!?? You have left me in your culinary dust! How did I miss this? I’ve always wanted to have fresh bay leaves (and I was wondering about that casual reference to chicken curry). You must do another post about growing them!!!!

I will send you the recipe. Does Sherry come out to play at night? I have to get her to come to some of these ESB events. Marcia Clark is coming next week!
