Monticello Meandering

We left in the wee hours of the morning last week, driving through icy snow and by the time we got to Virginia in the afternoon, things were looking up!Thoughts of my spindly lettuce growing desperately in Southern windows were displaced by the reality of lettuce, cabbage and kale growing happily in the warmer soils high on this hill.  Coats were shed, and our walk around the grounds filled us with excitement for the day and for our travel further South ahead.

You got all the way to Monticello the first day??? You two are major road trippers! Isn’t it amazing what a difference a few hours’ driving can make. Next time we do a drive like that, I hope there’s a moving van right behind…or at least a real estate agent ahead.
